When two Loves cross paths...
While I don't peg P into holes verbally (heaven forbid the kid believe the hole and stick there!), here I can definitely say that his interests skew heavily towards both fossil hunting and crafting. Or at least they do this month ;) So when he started to paint a couple of weeks ago, you could see the lightbulb over his head as he squealed with excitement.
"Mama Mama Mama!!! I can use the paint to bury stuff and then let it dry and then excavate it! Just like real!" And so he started small, adding just a few pieces of his precious pirate treasure to his painting. But glopping thick masses of paint over shiny surfaces proved too fabulous to curb and he eventually had his entire treasure box emptied onto two papers. He swirled his glitter paint and his thicker paints together, carefully placing each and every gold piece and sparkly emerald.
P, mid paint, requested I document the beauty of the swirl on his thumb before it was washed away :0
A couple of weeks later, the stuff had finally dried :) Excavating went a little less smoothly than I think he had envisioned.... But he did enjoy pulling out his hammer and chisel again and was very excited to "excavate with me, Mama!" He kept at it for a good part of the afternoon. There was a lot of buried booty there :) Needless to say, the project was eventually abandoned with a request that I wash all of the paint laden treasure to return it to its original luster.... :)
