Craft King
Kansas was relatively crafts free this summer, and the little man must have missed his artistic musings. Ever since returning home he has been creating on a daily basis. Our first day home, in fact, he pulled out his felt, his embroidery thread and his creativity and sewed himself a bag. Just cuz :)
These are two bags he designed earlier in the summer that I've been meaning to document. He was adamant about having the patch on the polka-dot bag, along with the decorative buttons :) He sewed everything too, the detail work, the buttons and even the button holes. It was cool to watch his mind wheels whir while he did the button holes, since the stitch was entirely different than the one he used for the seams. After he was finished with these two, they became the carriers of odds and ends, but most often, the homes of his fave finger puppets from Uncle Blaine and Aunt Micki.
He's really started to embrace the concept of "making it ourselves, mama!" When he sees something he wants these days, he often starts scheming his blueprints for his custom whatever. And if he isn't sure how to make it, he is sure I should :) Thus, the seemingly endless addition to his stuffed animal hammock, mostly recently with Bingy the Monster (who could really use a little less detailing, for my taste. But its the Little Man's monster, and the Little Man likes bling and details and Color!!!) and Pigeon Without a Puppy (from his well loved "The Pigeon Wants a Puppy" book (omg - the kid is a Huge Mo Willems fan!!! Fortunately, for me, so am I ;))
He has plans for so many monsters and toys - we could start creating tomorrow and still be busy next summer. Could anything be more fun?
