Top o' the world

I just remembered to get the photos off of my phone and found these shoddy shots from Colorado. They were such happy moments for the little man I just had to capture them with anything I had on hand!

P, in heaven, atop Grandpapa's pate. His favorite way to ride :) We were on a little nature walk, one where we accidentally happened upon a snake and I showed P just how loud I could scream :)

I loved watching P play with the big kids. It took him a while to get the lay of the land, to stop running amok in the middle of their hacky sack circle. But eventually, he found his place as the rebound boy. If someone dropped the bag, P was their man. He'd serve it up (typically to Alicia's younger brother that P loved So much) and then vibrate up and down with the sheer anticipation of getting to do it again. Occasionally, he'd drop to the ground and scratch his bare back on the asphalt to alleviate the angst of the mosquito bites torturing him, but otherwise, it was game on until the rains started...

Grandpapa created the most perfect game ever for the little man. P likes physical play, a lot. Really, he requires it for proper functioning :) Wrestling is good, but P needs to feel powerful to truly enjoy it, but just pinning me tends to be a bit dry. Being bigger, stronger and more informed in the art wrestling, Grandpapa created elaborate holds that P had to break out of. Each was, of course, an illegal hold that was impossible for mere mortals to break, yet the little man would squiggle and squirm his way out every time, beaming. The perfection in this game was twofold, since it gave P both the opportunity to push against something, (which is apparently, after watching the lad play, a necessity) and the chance to not be the unable four year old for a bit. Feeling ever powerful, just as he prefers, he tried to take on more and more family, eventually besting four full grown humans in one fell Phoenix swoop...

After spending his immense energy proving his abilities, P was finally ready to settle down and focus on something. The cabin provided the perfect thing: a foam 3-D puzzle of a dump truck. The cabin, however, did Not provide the instructions for this very complex puzzle. Fortunately, Uncle Bric was there, puzzle master extraordinaire. Alicia's mum was there too, with intimate and impressive knowledge of trucks and good pointers for our seemingly impossible puzzle. Its always fun to see the little man buckle down on a project....
